ampere安培=1881年巴黎国际电学会议通过-项决议，为了纪念对电磁学作出巨大贡献的法国物理学家Andre Marie Ampere(1775—1836)，电流强度的单位以他的姓氏命名为ampere，口语常作amp，汉语译为“安培”，简称“安"。在此以前为了纪念意大利物理学家Alessandro volta(1745—1827)，电压单位已定名为volt，汉语作“伏特”或简称“伏"。另外两个电学的常用单位名称，即电阻单位ohm(欧姆)和电的功率单位watt(瓦特)则得名于德国物理学家Georg Simon Ohm(1787—1854)和英国发明家James Watt(1736—1819)。
