There have been 83 confirmed weather-related fatalities linked to the past week's winter weather in the United States, CBS News reported, even as dangerous cold continues to hit northern and southeastern regions in the country.

The Tennessee department of Health has confirmed 19 weather-related fatalities, and Oregon officials have confirmed 16, including three adults who died when a tree fell on their car.

Dangerous weather is continuing across the U.S. into the weekend. Tens of millions of people woke up to bitterly cold, below-average temperatures on Saturday morning, and the Eastern half of the country will likely experience some of the coldest weather yet this season with dangerous wind chills and hard freeze warnings extending into Northern Florida.
